HOMELESS PART TWO – LIVING ON THE STREETS

Stephen Hood from Chester, England is the person portrayed in this multi-media clip. His world collapsed around him and he lost everything he held dear. He became homeless and ended up wandering on the streets. He used to sleep in a car park or any dry protected place he could find. His story is much more complex than what this video implies but Stephen has shown strength of character and now volunteers in numerous ways despite his medical issues too.

“It is a stark fact that drugs and alcohol are major causes of death amongst homeless people. The links between drug and alcohol abuse and homelessness are well established3 and drugs and alcohol are known to be both a cause and consequence of homelessness. Four out of five people start using at least one new drug since becoming homeless.” CRISIS (Homelessness: A silent killer)
